<p>And I’ve got a really strong point so I’ll do my best to present it clearly..</p>
<p>Why do you work?&#8230;</p>
<p>Do you work to make living? To make a fortune? To win and be the best? Leave a legacy? Take care of your family? Have the good things in life? Possessions? Experiences? Why do you work?</p>
<p>What makes you get up early in the morning, hop on a train, come to The City and work all day?</p>
<p>And this is not about: “Well if I don’t my boss will go mental, I’ll lose clients, or what else can I do.”</p>
<p>Let’s look beyond that…</p>
<p>Because all human behaviour is driven either by desperation or inspiration…</p>
<p>And most people don’t come work in The City because they’re desperate..</p>
<p>It’s more about being inspired by something and about what got you here…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>The Vision Of A Good Life</strong></span></h3>
<p>We all certainly each have our own definition of what a good life means&#8230;</p>
<p>And whatever the reason you’re working in The City…</p>
<p>Somehow you being here fits that vision…</p>
<p>Now a successful professional life is not everything…</p>
<p>Most people don’t consider success in their professional life the only thing that counts towards having a good life…</p>
<p>But it is a very important part and it definitely can enable you to have a good personal life as well…</p>
<p>Even if it just provides funding…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>So Here’s The Point</strong></span></h3>
<p>Whatever drives you to work in The City and be successful professionally is likely driving success in your personal life as well…</p>
<p>And although not top of mind priority on a daily basis, your shape, fitness and health play a huge role in both…</p>
<p>The paradox is though that we spend so much time working so we have options in our life…</p>
<p>And once the options are presented to us we struggle to completely immerse ourselves in them….</p>
<p>Because our body is no longer 20…</p>
<p>Not long ago I’ve read something that read: “When we’re 20 we’ve got the body we were given by genetics. When we’re 50 we’ve got the body we’ve built for ourselves.”</p>
<p>You taking care of your physical shape and fitness as you go ahead in life is so absolutely crucial….</p>

<p>And give the time constraints, we’ve only got a finite amount of time each day to pay attention to the things we want..</p>
<p>But if you’d regularly pay a bit of attention to your training, fitness and health you could have been in a phenomenal shape..</p>
<p>So how much time does this really require?</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Doing The Numbers</strong></span></h3>
<p>Without knowing the numbers, it’s really easy to fall for the illusion…</p>
<p>Finite time, professional and personal commitments, priorities holding you back..</p>
<p>Once you add everything up, there’s no time to train…</p>
<p>But is that so?</p>
<p>Have you ever taken the time to break it down a bit?..</p>
<p>Let’s start by assuming that regardless of where your office is in the City, there is a gym you could go to within a 10-minute walking distance…</p>
<p>That’s about 10 minutes in, 10 minutes out, 20 minutes altogether..</p>
<p>If you’re going before or after work, this will likely take you even less time because you’re going directly from or to the train station before or after…</p>
<p>Next we need to account for some time in the changing room getting changed and having a shower…</p>
<p>If you’re really as busy as you think, there’s no reason why this would take more than 15 minutes altogether…</p>
<p>A great effective workout takes anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes depending on your workout programme and how it fits your goals….</p>
<p>So altogether this equals around 90 minutes of your time per workout so far…</p>
<p>3 workouts a week equals 4.5 hours…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>What About The Other Things?</strong></span></h3>
<p>When you’re eating out you’re not spending more time making the right food choices as you would be by making the wrong food choices…</p>
<p>And if you’re eating at home, the same applies…</p>
<p>If you do some meal planning and do all your food shopping online, you might even save yourself some time you would have otherwise spent walking to the supermarket..</p>
<p>And because of better physical shape, your mental performance might increase as well, helping you cut time on certain work tasks and so creating a bit more time for you that way…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>So How Much Time Are We Really Talking About?</strong></span></h3>
<p>If we aim for 3 workouts a week and start making the right food choices…</p>
<p>We’re really talking about only 4.5 hours a week…</p>
<p>Which out of 168 hours in the week represents less than 3% of your time…</p>
<p>And regardless how busy you might be both professionally and personally, I know you’ll be able to find that time to focus on this…</p>
<p>How do I know?</p>
<p>Because my clients have been in a similar situation..</p>
<p>And they always manage to make time for this…</p>
<p>Not by saying they don’t have time…</p>
<p>But by understanding how being in shape positively impacts their life…</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Let’s say you’ve been building your career in The City for a few years now…</p>
<p>It’s not easy, you’ve got to commit to what you’re doing…</p>
<p>Some days might be longer, starting early, finishing late, commuting in and out of London…</p>
<p>Then you’ve got your social life and other commitments either to your family or friends…</p>
<p>And then if there’s anything left, that’s your time to use and you can do whatever you dare to do with it…</p>
<p>At least that’s how it looks like for the most..</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Starting The Year</strong></span></h3>
<p>Now in January and February you might be inclined to use this time and focus more on your physical shape and fitness…</p>
<p>And why not?</p>
<p>There’s barely any sunshine around, not too many events, too cold and dark to spend much time out….</p>
<p>Plus it’s just easy to join the gym and do some work on your body while we’re waiting for the more interesting months of the year to come…</p>
<p>So you might join for few weeks to perhaps lose a kilo or two that you might have gained over the festive period..</p>
<p>And then kind of slip off…</p>
<p>It’s not that you don’t want to keep going…</p>
<p>But the work is just so busy, you need to travel, got some other plans…</p>
<p>And why bother anyway?</p>
<p>I’ve already lost the extra bit I needed and it’s not like I’d get a 6 pack or anything anyway…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>It’s Not About The 6 Pack</strong></span></h3>
<p>You don’t need to get completely shredded and get iron man ready in 2-3 months to make it worth your time…</p>
<p>Yes you can aim for it, but it’s also important to realise this is not an all or nothing game…</p>
<p>It’s not that if you don’t see your training leading to that extreme physique in a matter of a few weeks it’s not worth it…</p>
<p>It’s about the constant progress you’re making…</p>
<p>And the effect it’s got on your physical shape and fitness as well as other areas of your life…</p>
<p>That’s what should be keeping you working on your body, training consistently and eating well…</p>
<p>Improved physical shape and fitness lead to a better relationship with yourself…</p>
<p>A better relationship with yourself leads to better relationships with people around you…</p>
<p>Having better relationships with people around you opens up your network for opportunities of all kinds…</p>
<p>To experience a better and richer life in so many ways..</p>
<p>Physical shape and fitness have a very important position in our life…</p>
<p>Treat it like that all the time, not only for the first 6 weeks of the year…</p>

<p>You will always be able to find 3-4 hours a week to train…</p>
<p>You’ll have the mental power to make good food choices…</p>
<p>And you can always find reasons to stay consistent…</p>
<p>And see the physical change that could lead to an enormous change in other areas of your life…</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you’ve followed any of my previous articles you might have noticed I’ve gone a bit quiet over the last few months…</p>
<p>The gym that’s been a home to Sets In The City personal training got flooded and shut down temporarily over night…</p>
<p>And all the activity to reach as many people as possible with the positive message of improving health, fitness and shape while working in The City was put on hold while the gym was being refurbished…</p>
<p>There was nowhere to train, clients were waiting, and a tonne of issues to deal with…</p>
<p>But while this was a bit of a nightmare…</p>
<p>As the days were passing we’ve gradually managed to find temporary solutions with clients…</p>
<p>Keep as many of them as possible working hard on their goals in other gyms…</p>
<p>And keep this spirit high while the gym was closed for 11 weeks…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Massive Thank You To My Clients</strong></span></h3>
<p>I remember a few people telling me how to manage my business effectively…</p>
<p>“Don’t overrun your sessions when you’re paid for an hour.”</p>
<p>“Always charge for short notice cancellations.”</p>
<p>“Dictate rather then provide options for clients PT sessions slots.”</p>
<p>And a few more lines that I’ve consistently ignored that now perhaps saved Sets In The City…</p>
<p>Because while my clients could have walked away, they didn’t..</p>
<p>A massive thank you goes to all my clients that understood the situation and decided to stick through it and keep training while it all looked helpless…</p>
<p>Thank you for showing your understanding and thank you for sticking to your training while it wasn’t ideal by any measure…</p>
<p>Visiting a different gym in a different location with limited equipment…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Value Oriented Brand</strong></span></h3>
<p>The way I like to look at this flooding and immediate gym closure event is a test…</p>
<p>We’ve gone through long 11 weeks without having access to our home gym…</p>
<p>And yet Sets In The City is back without losing a single client…</p>
<p>And ready to reach out to more and more people both offline and online…</p>
<p>Doing the very same thing that saved the day in this case…</p>
<p>Providing great value whether it’s in the actual PT Sessions, Online Personal Training, occasionally promoted Complimentary Body Transformation Sessions or the content published online…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Moving Forward</strong></span></h3>
<p>What I’d like to do in 2018 is to keep reminding you through continuing with these articles…</p>
<p>That you can get and be in a great shape despite having a very demanding career…</p>
<p>There are effective ways how to achieve this…</p>
<p>And that being fit and in shape in your situation is not a luxury but a necessity as your physical health, shape and well being has massive impact on all other areas of your life.</p>
<p>And how you see yourself and feel about yourself is the most powerful factor in experiencing success in our life, 2nd is how others perceive you.</p>

<p>You’ve got a busy career in The City…</p>
<p>And you’re ambitious outside of your career as well..</p>
<p>Which inevitably brings a lot of stress into your life automatically..</p>
<p>So how do you de-stress?</p>
<p>I know you’ll say: “I’m not stressed, I’m alright…”</p>
<p>But really…</p>
<p>If you’re going 110% at your life every day…</p>
<p>There is no way you can avoid stress…</p>
<p>Regardless of how good your psychology is…</p>
<p>Your mind and body will always feel it..</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>What Matters Is What You Do With Stress</strong></span></h3>
<p>Diamonds are made under a lot of stress&#8230;</p>
<p>So removing stress is not an option…</p>
<p>Instead you need to master the art of de-stressing effectively..</p>
<p>Like a tidal wave…</p>
<p>Make a move, gain momentum, reach your max…</p>
<p>And then pull back a bit..</p>
<p>And go again…</p>
<p>Like a breathing organism…</p>
<p>Periodically alternate stress with decompression…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>So What Does It Mean Actually</strong></span></h3>
<p>We obviously have these habits built into us…</p>
<p>Work hard through September, October and November…</p>
<p>Enjoy Christmas parties and the winter atmosphere in December…</p>
<p>Back in full power for January, February and March…</p>
<p>Resting around Easter holidays…</p>
<p>Good focus leading up to summer…</p>
<p>Then travel to have some fun and sunshine….</p>
<p>You get away from London…</p>
<p>Refresh your mind…</p>
<p>Eat loads of good food…</p>
<p>Sleep a lot more than normal…</p>
<p>And so your mind and your body feel fresh and ready to get back…</p>
<p>We intuitively know how to deal with stress on a macroscale…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>But What About Microscale?</strong></span></h3>
<p>What about the daily and weekly de-stressing habits?</p>
<p>You wake up at 0600am…</p>
<p>Do your 60-minute commute…</p>
<p>Work for 10 hours a day&#8230;</p>
<p>Deal with loads of meetings, paperwork and deadlines…</p>
<p>Then come back home…</p>
<p>And what do you do?</p>
<p>Perhaps more work…</p>
<p>Maybe some entertainment..</p>
<p>A bit of reading&#8230;</p>
<p>Hang out with family, friends..</p>
<p>Or chat on social media…</p>
<p>And this is obviously great for de-stressing….</p>
<p>But only mentally..</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>What About Physical Decompression?</strong></span></h3>
<p>Do you go for a walk?&#8230;</p>
<p>How about a bike ride…</p>
<p>Gym, cardio, stretching, good sleep…</p>
<p>What about your food?</p>
<p>Do you eat some nutrient dense foods…</p>
<p>That will feed your body, restore your cells, top up your energy…</p>
<p>And actually do you some good?</p>
<p>Or do you just eat whatever rubbish you can get your hands on…</p>
<p>Have a pint or two…</p>
<p>Sleep very little….</p>
<p>Abuse your body and then expect it to perform on a high level the next day?</p>
<p>Think about it…</p>

<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Going For The Easy Option</strong></span></h3>
<p>You’ve probably got it all worked out…</p>
<p>Once you get home you’ll either cook, or your other half cooks…</p>
<p>And you’re sorted..</p>
<p>Hopefully with something healthy and tasty..</p>
<p>At least when things are going well….</p>
<p>But what if they’re not?..</p>
<p>What if you’re both really busy, tired or just lazy to cook healthy…</p>
<p>It’s so much easier to open your laptop and order something tasty to your doorstep…</p>
<p>It literally takes 5 minutes to pick your food and submit an order….</p>
<p>Or what do you do when you’re glued to your office desk…</p>
<p>And getting some food in between meetings…</p>
<p>Is first and foremost driven by convenience?&#8230;</p>
<p>How can you manage to eat healthy all the time…</p>
<p>When some days are just seemingly impossible?</p>
<p>And you don’t have time to even think about it?</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>It Takes The Same Time To Cook And Eat Healthy As It Takes To Eat Whatever Comes Your Way</strong></span></h3>
<p>It’s all about how much you want it..</p>
<p>If you don’t care much about what you eat…</p>
<p>And you’re literally just reacting to the need to eat something every single time..</p>
<p>Without stopping for a moment and giving it a thought or two..</p>
<p>You’ll have to bear the consequences of your actions…</p>
<p>Yes you might be busy and using it as an excuse not to eat well…</p>
<p>But snacking on chips and chocolate and eating whatever you can get your hands on…</p>
<p>Is not going to save you time and will ultimately run you down…</p>
<p>And it takes the same time to eat healthy after all…</p>
<p>You can’t get maximum performance from your brain, if you feed your body poorly&#8230;</p>
<p>Now if you really care about eating healthy and staying in a shape…</p>
<p>You will find ways how to eat and cook healthy with the same time…</p>
<p>And I see this with every successful client I’ve ever had..</p>
<p>It’s all about that very much needed mental switch…</p>
<p>That’s all it takes&#8230;</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Healthy Food At Your Convenience</strong></span></h3>
<p>This week I’ve tried some emergency meals from Muscle Food..</p>
<p>There are two things I’ve tried…</p>
<p>One was pre made meals you can put into microwave for 3 minutes and eat straight away..</p>
<p>The ingredients are healthy…</p>
<p>The macronutrient content is well thought through</p>
<p>The time it takes to prepare is minimal…</p>
<p>And the taste is good as well..</p>
<p>You can keep this food in your fridge for the evening…</p>
<p>Or you can bring it with you to work…</p>
<p>And as long as you’ll find a microwave and 3 minutes to heat it up…</p>
<p>You’ll eat a much better food than anything else you could imagine…</p>
<p>And your body will thank you for that as well…</p>
<p>The other thing I tried…</p>
<p>Came as a sealed bag of pre-packaged ingredients you put on a pan and stir fry for 8 minutes..</p>
<p>8 minutes with minimum attention…</p>
<p>That’s it..</p>
<p>Tasty, quick and nutritious…</p>
<p>Ideal for the evening when you’re back home after a long day…</p>
<p>There is a big variety from which you can pick from…</p>
<p>And so instead of coming home and ordering pizza when you have no time to cook..</p>
<p>Or ordering something salty, fatty or sweet for delivery…</p>
<p>On the days when healthy food is literally the last thing you’ve got time to think about…</p>
<p>You can still manage to keep your eating standards where they need to be…</p>
<p>And avoid any immediate or long term regret…</p>

<p>Train consistently, follow a sound programme and eat well..</p>
<p>And if you feel you need some help…</p>
<p>Get someone to help you…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>It’s That Easy.. Or Is It?</strong></span></h3>
<p>When you’re living out in Marbella and you’ve got all the time in the world it might be…</p>
<p>But when you’re full on busy all day every day…</p>
<p>Commuting and working in The City…</p>
<p>Taking your kids to places during summer holidays..</p>
<p>And trying to keep your personal life together…</p>
<p>It might sound like mission impossible…</p>
<p>And even though you might know what to do…</p>
<p>You’re simply just not doing it…</p>
<p>You’re busy, you’re stressed, lacking energy, lacking motivation, got other priorities…</p>
<p>Whatever it is…</p>
<p>You’re simply not doing much to get and stay in shape…</p>
<p>And little by little it’s just getting worse..</p>
<p>To the point when 80% of your clothes you don’t even fit you anymore…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Here’s Why</strong></span></h3>
<p>Getting in shape is about commitment…</p>
<p>Not about knowledge… commitment…</p>
<p>And although commitment might be an ugly word…</p>
<p>This one is a commitment to your own standards…</p>
<p>If you don’t mind your beer gut…</p>
<p>That’s your standard…</p>
<p>And nothing is going to miraculously put you in shape…</p>
<p>Because you’re already where you want to be…</p>
<p>The reason you’re not doing anything about it&#8230;</p>
<p>Is not that you’re missing resources…</p>
<p>It is the fact you haven’t raised your standards yet…</p>
<p>And once you do&#8230;</p>
<p>You will find a way….</p>
<p>Now is it true that you’re too busy to focus on yet another thing requiring a lot of attention?</p>
<p>Perhaps yes…</p>
<p>Is it true you’re tired enough to not deal with this right now?</p>
<p>Well do it to have more energy!</p>
<p>Is it true life can happily go on without you making any change?</p>
<p>I’d argue…</p>
<p>Just because I’ve seen the impact it can make on everything else in your life..</p>
<p>If you already know what to do then take action…</p>

<p>But first things first..</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Why You Should Even Make It Your Goal To Get In Shape</strong></span></h3>
<p>Being in shape is not a luxury…</p>
<p>It’s not something reserved for a group of people chasing vanity…</p>
<p>It’s much broader..</p>
<p>For some it’s about self-respect…</p>
<p>Being fit, strong, agile, ache free and well-shaped add to one’s confidence</p>
<p>For some it’s being a great parent….</p>
<p>Being able to keep up with your kids even though they’re 30 years younger…</p>
<p>For some it’s about mindset maintenance…</p>
<p>Maintaining yourself physically usually leads to better mindset mental performance….</p>
<p>For others it’s something different again…</p>
<p>The most important point to make is that your physical body influences everything in your life…</p>
<p>And so you should make it your non-negotiable standard to take great care of it..</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>Demand Your Results Fast</strong></span></h3>
<p>Every now and then when you see someone around making a big impressive change…</p>
<p>Change that is so visible you can’t help to notice…</p>
<p>They get in shape because they’re committed..</p>
<p>Not committed to signing up for the gym and maybe going down once or twice a week if there’s time…</p>
<p>But committed to doing what it takes to get where they want…</p>
<p>And since they’re committed…</p>
<p>They tend to compromise less and do the right things to get them results fast…</p>
<p>Now, on the other hand…</p>
<p>How many people have you seen getting in shape simply attending?</p>
<p>Going to the gym once a week to tick it off?</p>
<p>Having an apple instead of a chocolate bar…</p>
<p>Just to get a bar tap after the working hours?</p>
<p>Slow, laid back, in it without shooting for the stars approach doesn’t lead anywhere…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>You Need Some Leverage</strong></span></h3>
<p>It’s not easy to do multiple things and do them well..</p>
<p>Do your work well, be a great father, invest, have great fun, be as fit as hell…</p>
<p>Making the necsesary change and getting into great shape…</p>
<p>Requires some knowledge, some motivation, some time, and initially a lot of effort…</p>
<p>Especially when you don’t know 100% you know what you’re doing…</p>
<p>But similar to how companies do it…</p>
<p>You can always use leverage…</p>
<p>Take the guess work away from it…</p>
<p>Borrow the knowledge, maintain the motivation, dramatically cut the time….</p>
<p>Which eventually costs you a lot less effort.</p>
<p>Getting in shape in The City has never been easier.</p>

<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>The Bitter Sweet Summer Aftermath</strong></span></h3>
<p>I hope you’ve been having a great summer, I really do…</p>
<p>It’s a great opportunity to have fun..</p>
<p>And find loads of inspiration simply from changing the environment…</p>
<p>So despite being really busy all year long…</p>
<p>I hope you managed to escape somewhere hot at least for a few days…</p>
<p>Now it might also mean proper summer holidays with everything it offers…</p>
<p>Booze, ice cream, pizza, doing nothing on the beach….</p>
<p>Or staying up late at night, partying and being social..</p>
<p>I mean when you’re finally not tied up in meetings, long hours, and some travel in between…</p>
<p>Making it quite difficult to stay focused on your training…</p>
<p>The chances are you ended up in a great enjoyable situation…</p>
<p>That doesn’t help your shape and fitness much either….</p>
<p>And so here we are…</p>
<p>Back at work in September…</p>
<p>Slowly getting busy again…</p>
<p>And hoping you’ll find time to get down to gym…</p>
<p>And finally make the change…</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>But It’s The Same Story All Over Again</strong></span></h3>
<p>You come with great intentions…</p>
<p>Restart your training…</p>
<p>Have a few workouts…</p>
<p>Perhaps even slightly change your diet…</p>
<p>And the whole show ends within 3 weeks…</p>
<p>Your mind wonders off onto work, social life, family, Halloween….</p>
<p>And even though you’re still trying to train and eat properly..</p>
<p>What you’re giving it is clearly not enough to make a change…</p>
<p>And you quickly realise it…</p>
<p>Stop seeing the value…</p>
<p>And all of a sudden you’re out of the game..</p>
<p>Nothing has changed…</p>
<p>You’re still out of shape…</p>
<p>And worse yet you can even justify it…</p>
<p>“I’m too busy for it now… Too many drinking dinners coming up… Constantly tired&#8230; etc.”</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;"><strong>How About Choosing To Go All The Way This Time?</strong></span></h3>
<p>I’m writing this in hope that some of this article will resonate with you…</p>
<p>And help you make a change you want to make….</p>
<p>Not to kind of decide to get in shape and fit..</p>
<p>But to really go all the way and meet the standards you’re holding for yourself and your body…</p>
<p>Making a great change…</p>
<p>And creating a momentum for yourself…</p>
<p>So everything else in life will massively go your way too…</p>
<p>But the hardest part is always the decision…</p>
<p>Make the right one.</p>
