How do you de-stress?

You’ve got a busy career in The City…

And you’re ambitious outside of your career as well..

Which inevitably brings a lot of stress into your life automatically..

So how do you de-stress?

I know you’ll say: “I’m not stressed, I’m alright…”

But really…

If you’re going 110% at your life every day…

There is no way you can avoid stress…

Regardless of how good your psychology is…

Your mind and body will always feel it..

What Matters Is What You Do With Stress

Diamonds are made under a lot of stress…

So removing stress is not an option…

Instead you need to master the art of de-stressing effectively..

Like a tidal wave…

Make a move, gain momentum, reach your max…

And then pull back a bit..

And go again…

Like a breathing organism…

Periodically alternate stress with decompression…

So What Does It Mean Actually

We obviously have these habits built into us…

Work hard through September, October and November…

Enjoy Christmas parties and the winter atmosphere in December…

Back in full power for January, February and March…

Resting around Easter holidays…

Good focus leading up to summer…

Then travel to have some fun and sunshine….

You get away from London…

Refresh your mind…

Eat loads of good food…

Sleep a lot more than normal…

And so your mind and your body feel fresh and ready to get back…

We intuitively know how to deal with stress on a macroscale…

But What About Microscale?

What about the daily and weekly de-stressing habits?

You wake up at 0600am…

Do your 60-minute commute…

Work for 10 hours a day…

Deal with loads of meetings, paperwork and deadlines…

Then come back home…

And what do you do?

Perhaps more work…

Maybe some entertainment..

A bit of reading…

Hang out with family, friends..

Or chat on social media…

And this is obviously great for de-stressing….

But only mentally..

What About Physical Decompression?

Do you go for a walk?…

How about a bike ride…

Gym, cardio, stretching, good sleep…

What about your food?

Do you eat some nutrient dense foods…

That will feed your body, restore your cells, top up your energy…

And actually do you some good?

Or do you just eat whatever rubbish you can get your hands on…

Have a pint or two…

Sleep very little….

Abuse your body and then expect it to perform on a high level the next day?

Think about it…
