Assuming you care first of all…

Because if you don’t, that’s a completely different story..

But if you do and you’re trying to be in shape…

Your evening snacking and overeating could be killing your progress.

And it happens to a lot of people.

Let’s say you start your day with some good breakfast..

Good, rich, nutritious and healthy..

Now if you don’t eat your breakfast at home..

You get something on your way to work..

Or around the office..

And Your Day Is Off To A Good Start

But then you’ll do a bit of work…

Go grab some lunch..

Which in most cases will be all good, healthy, balanced still..

Have a couple of cups of coffee…

And slowly head back home..

And now it’s 0600pm, 0700pm or later…

And you think you’ve been eating well all day…

But in reality there’s steam coming out of your engine

And it’s just about to burst with fire…

When The Numbers Don’t Add Up

OK, so let’s go through it again..

You’ve had some breakfast, which in most cases will be around 500-600 kcal..

You’ve had your lunch, which will be 600kcal to 700kcal

And perhaps you’ve had a handful of nuts..

So from morning to 0700pm you’ve only had about 1500kcal.

Remember this is all assuming you’re trying to eat well and is goal specific..

Now if you’re around 35 and 80kg plus..

Your daily energy expenditure could be somewhere around 2800kcal – 3000kcal.

So if you’ve only had 1500kcal so far, your body expects another 1300-1500 kcal in the evening.

And It Surely Sends You A Signal

Now if you’re used to one normal dinner after coming home, here comes our problem..

One meal is not going to cover your energy needs…

You’ll only get about 700kcal out of it…

And you will still be 500kcal in debt..

And so your body will ask for more energy…

Now imagine you’ve been on your feet since 0700am…

Gone through a very stressful day, feel like you haven’t even had a chance to enjoy your day so far,

You’re feeling tired..

And you’ve also been eating well all day..

And come on!

Slacking off a bit in the evening is not going to hurt you, is it?…

So how does that chocolate, ice cream, glass of wine, bag of crisps sound right now?

And so you go for it…

Sacrificing your long term goal for your short term gratification…

While all you had to do was to eat an extra meal during the day..

So your body would never get into an energy debt…

Sending you a signal of craving food..

And so you’d have never made a bad decision just because you were tired…
